Betrayed by Greed: The Pendant That Revealed My True Heritage

Chapter 5

I bought a ticket on my phone for a flight to the capital city the next day.

After packing my things, I reached out to knock on Olivia's door, but heard mixed male and female voices flirting inside.

The door was slightly ajar, as if it hadn't been closed properly.

Olivia had her phone on speaker and was applying body lotion to her legs.

The conversation inside reached my ears word for word.

Lucas's voice came through, whining and coaxing:

"Olivia, can we be together after I meet your parents? Ethan doesn't deserve you at all."

"You've already repaid what you owed him long ago. Didn't you tell me you don't love him anymore?"

Olivia's hand paused as she was applying the lotion, her voice turning cold:

"Lucas, I can give you anything you want."

"Except for this."

"I don't love Ethan, but I still have a responsibility to him."

Then she softened her voice again, coaxing the man:

"I've given you everything. What else are you unsatisfied with? Being too greedy isn't a good thing."

"But Olivia, do you really want me to be the other man?"

A smile appeared on Olivia's face, her voice lazy and drawling.

"How could you be the other man?"

"The one who isn't loved is the other man."

I closed the door and turned to leave.

Laughing at myself for the thought of saying goodbye just now.
