At eighteen, I was dragged into an alley by our rivals and defiled.

Sterling Thorne, armed with nothing but a machete, stormed their stronghold alone. He butchered every single person who dared lay a hand on me.

He lost three fingers and an eye, but he still smiled at me.

"I told you I'd protect you, Scarlett. I never break my promises."

Later, to make me untouchable, he boarded a ship on the open sea.

For five long years, he carved his way to become the king of the underworld, controlling everything with a snap of his fingers.

He married me against all his brothers' objections.

He made sure everyone bowed their heads and called me Boss Lady.

Then I found her, the college girl he'd stashed away all along.

She wore a flowing white dress, cradling a visibly pregnant belly.

Her eyes gleamed with undisguised triumph.

"Sterling said as soon as I give him a child, he'll divorce you."

"You're just a damaged, used-up whore who was raped. You don't deserve to be his wife."

I was silent for a long time, then lowered my head and let out a cold laugh.

The next second.

With a sudden, violent lurch, I slammed my knee into her abdomen.

I casually instructed my subordinate.

"Get a clear shot. Send it to Sterling. Tell him I just taught his barking dog a lesson. He's welcome."
