He Thought I’d Stay After the Affair—I Didn’t
Chapter 4
It had been several years since our last high school reunion, and today was particularly lively.
The last to arrive was the class hottie. Despite the cold weather, she wore a sequined gown with a white fur coat and dramatic earrings, looking like she had just stepped off a runway. She had the looks to pull it off, now being a minor internet celebrity.
"Wow, our class beauty actually found time to join our reunion!" Several classmates exclaimed excitedly. Quite a few guys had crushed on her back in the day.
Her face, now with some "enhancements", looked even more delicate than before. Her curvaceous figure made even the women's hearts race.
Almost all the guys at the table stood up to greet her, except for Julian, who remained seated quietly.
After greeting everyone, the class hottie walked straight to the seat next to Julian and said with a smile, "Let's switch seats, shall we?"
The classmate sitting next to Julian happily gave up his seat.
Everyone laughed and teased, but it was nothing new. Everyone knew the class hottie had a thing for Julian.
Julian just nodded slightly in greeting.
the class hottie asked, "Julian, are you planning to develop your career back home now?"
Julian smiled lightly. "Yes, I'll be relying on everyone's help from now on."
Everyone quickly said they wouldn't dare, knowing that the combined net worth of everyone else in the room probably wouldn't match even a fraction of his.
As the waiters started serving the food, the class hottie downed a glass of red wine and asked with a flushed face, "Julian, I heard you're still single. Do you think I have a chance?"
Her directness shocked everyone!
I was curious too, and looked up just in time to meet his gaze.
Julian took a sip of his wine and said, "I'm sorry, but I already have someone I like."
This news was even more shocking.
the class hottie didn't seem discouraged though. Instead, her smile grew brighter. "As long as you're not married, I still have a chance."
They say it's easy for a girl to chase a guy.
I felt a bit envious of the class hottie's boldness in love, remembering how I used to chase Ryan so desperately.
I lowered my head and took a sip of red wine.
It was smooth and not too dry. Good wine indeed.
As the night went on and more drinks were consumed, everyone became more lively. Several guys I used to be close with in high school came over to toast with me.
With rosy cheeks, I said, "I can't drink anymore, I've had too much already."
My voice was naturally soft, and when I drank, it became even more coquettish.
I was trying to refuse firmly, but to others, it sounded like I was being coy.
I had hated my voice countless times before.
the class hottie seemed a bit annoyed. "Oh, come on, stop pretending. If you're going to drink, just drink!"
Brooke was about to stand up to defend me, but Julian was quicker. He picked up his glass and said with a smile, "Elena has already had quite a lot. I'll drink the rest on her behalf."
"Wow—" Many classmates exclaimed in surprise!
I was also stunned. There were quite a few female classmates who had drunk too much, including the class hottie who had hinted for him to help, but he hadn't made a move. Now he was suddenly helping me out.
Was I being honored?
Brooke had a knowing smile on her face as she tugged at my hand and said, "Come with me to the restroom."
Looking at my flushed face in the mirror, I was about to splash some cold water on it when Brooke grabbed my hand.
