The police found his body in a river, his internal organs had been removed.

When I saw the news, I was utterly shocked.

For some reason, Valentina's alluring image suddenly popped into my head.

"Could it be someone who was obsessed with Valentina?"

Just as a sliver of suspicion flickered towards Valentina,

A message from her shattered all my defenses.

My imagination ran wild again.

"Mr. Alex, are you free tonight? Could you join me for a drink?"

"Just saw the news, I can't believe Jake is gone. He was such a good guy."

At least she had some decency.

Although the invitation was sudden, I had no reason to refuse.

Plus, Chloe was visiting family, giving me plenty of space.

Sure enough, that night, I successfully had her,

But what I didn't know was, this was the beginning of my misfortune.

Following the address Valentina gave me, I arrived at her place right on time.

She opened the door wearing a bathrobe, her eyes heavy with sleep.

It seemed she truly felt comfortable around me.

My gaze involuntarily traced the curve of her neckline, revealing a tempting glimpse, but she seemed oblivious.

"Mr. Alex, you're here?"

I nodded.

She was so drunk her words were slurring,

And she swayed, almost stumbling.

I quickly grabbed her arm, and she fell into my embrace.

"Are you okay, Valentina?"

She shook her head stubbornly, and I gently helped her to the sofa.

The gardenia perfume completely enveloped me, making me feel utterly captivated.

"I'm fine, I can still drink."

She picked up the bottle from the table and took a long swig.

Then she burst into tears, full of grievance.

"I'm such a jinx. Jake and I just got together, and then this tragic accident happened."

Hearing that, I snatched the bottle and took a swig myself.

"Yeah, his death was so sudden."

She suddenly broke down, sobbing into the sofa,

I couldn't bear it.

"Valentina, don't be sad. What's done is done; we have to look ahead."

Unbeknownst to me, my lips were already pressed against hers.

We entwined ourselves together.

From every angle, she didn't look like a woman in her forties.

When I woke up, I saw her injecting something into her arm.
