My Colleague Accused My Son of Harassment

Chapter 3

3,647 words

At my words, Olivia began trembling violently, completely losing her composure as she shrieked at me.

"Lying?! Morgan, why on earth would I ruin my own reputation just to lie?! Why do you have to be so cruel and push me to the edge?!"

"Look at these screenshots yourself! See for yourself how your son harassed me!"

Like a woman possessed, she flipped through dozens more screenshots, displaying different account handles and timestamps.

Olivia's representative—her so-called HR consultant—wrapped an arm around the hysterical girl and glared at me accusingly. "Morgan, on what grounds are you calling Olivia a liar? These screenshots are ironclad proof! Your baseless accusations are nothing short of secondary trauma inflicted on a victim!"

I looked coldly at the self-righteous HR consultant, enunciating every single word: "If she had actually seen my son, she would never spew such utter nonsense."

Back when Olivia and I chatted about my "son" in the break room, all she had ever heard was a casual offhand phrase from my mouth.

My son, Archie, had never once shown his face in front of her.

Had she ever laid eyes on him, she would never have dreamed of pinning a crime like sexual harassment onto him.

Hearing my response, Olivia's consultant let out a mocking laugh. "Morgan, what, is your son God's gift to women? Why would my client, Olivia, ever go out of her way to drag her own name through the mud just to frame him?"

Olivia chimed in tearfully, "I really did see Archie! When he added me, his profile picture was a photo of your desk, Morgan! He explicitly said his name was Archie, that he was Morgan's son, and that he had recently joined the project team!"

A product manager beside her pointed a trembling finger at me, screaming, "Morgan, don't think you can clear your son's name just by denying it! Olivia saw him with her own eyes and even knows his name! You can't wiggle your way out of this!"

Watching their coordinated performance, I found the whole thing laughable.

Olivia sounded so confident only because she had exploited a loophole in our company's internal system: employee accounts could generate automated "bot" sub-accounts, and standard users couldn't view the complete backend logs for these bots.

They had used this technical blind spot to craft their bold, shameless lie.

Refusing to waste any more breath bickering with them, I turned directly to the executives. "Leadership, Olivia's testimony is riddled with glaring contradictions. It falls miles short of proving my son harassed her."

Seeing the executives nod in contemplation, Olivia panicked.

She shot up from her chair, pointing directly at my nose as she shrieked, "Contradictions?! Inconsistencies?! Morgan, stop trying to muddy the waters! Every single syllable out of my mouth is the god's honest truth, and these screenshots are the proof!"

I let out a soft laugh. "You expect to convict my son with a handful of easily faked screenshots? Do you take everyone in this room for an idiot?"

Flushed crimson with rage, Olivia looked on the verge of fainting.

The observing colleagues assumed I was being entirely unreasonable and began chanting for the panel to fire me.

"This woman is terrifying! Even now, she's still covering for her creep of a son!"

"I refuse to share an office with a criminal's enabler!"

They shouted over one another, attempting to use peer pressure to force me into admitting to a fabricated crime.

Instead, I straightened my spine and cast a chilling gaze across the room.

Mockery dripped from my voice. "Everyone, you have no idea what the real truth is yet. I'd be careful about letting yourselves be played for fools."
