Chapter 2
My soul left the hospital and floated to Lucas's house.
The lights were on in the luxurious townhouse, and the TV in the living room was playing, but Lucas's attention was clearly not on it. He was frowning, his eyes fixed on the phone he was gripping tightly, seemingly hesitating about something.
Finally, as if he had made up his mind, he dialed a number. As the busy tone became more frequent on the other end, his patience gradually disappeared. He angrily hung up and threw the phone onto the floor.
Lucas had always been impatient, so I wasn't particularly surprised to see him act this way.
But what he said next shocked me.
"Sophia, how dare you not answer my calls? Are you trying to provoke me?"
After saying this, as if still not satisfied, he swept everything off the coffee table onto the floor. The sound of shattering was jarring, but he seemed oblivious to it and continued smashing things.
"Sophia, don't think you can escape my sight like this. I'm telling you, the only way I'll let you go is if you die!"
Hearing these words, I felt a tightness in my chest.
Lucas, as you wished, I'm already dead.
