My CEO fiancé gave my promotion to the new intern.

By the time I found out, the official announcement had already been sent to the entire company.

In the open-plan office, Dominic leaned against his desk, looking at me with a lazy, uncaring shrug.

"Yeah, I gave your promotion to Chloe. She just started, and she needs a senior title to establish some authority here. It’s no big deal, Hazel. Just let it go."

"Be a good girl. We’re getting married next month anyway."

"Think about it. You’re going to be a stay-at-home wife soon. There’s really no need for you to work this hard."

The entire office went dead silent. Everyone held their breath, expecting me to throw a massive fit.

But instead, I felt a wave of absolute relief wash over me.

Dominic had no idea that my ex-boyfriend, desperate to get back with me, had just offered me a position at his firm—with double the salary.
