On Her Daughter's Birthday, She Died Tragically at Home, While Her Wife Was Still Accompanying the Childhood Sweetheart's Son

Chapter 3

I stood in the hallway watching Emily slowly disappear from my sight.

My heart felt like a piece of flesh had been carved out, making it hard to breathe.

Thinking of how Emily had looked forward to blowing out birthday candles with me, I prepared to go home and get the cake to accompany Emily.

Unexpectedly, just as I reached the lobby, I saw Sarah struggling to carry Ethan, following behind Mark.

Even so, her face still wore an expression of deep maternal love.

Watching them walk further away, I quickly followed.

I had originally thought to let Sarah go see Emily first, so Emily wouldn't have any regrets.

But just as I reached outside the hospital room, I heard the conversation inside.

"Do you think Emily's injuries are serious? If not serious, will Jack still not divorce?"

Sarah chuckled lightly, leaning against Mark in her red dress, tapping his nose with her finger.

"Look at how cowardly you are. As long as there's a threat to Emily, he'll definitely propose divorce himself. Then we can split half his assets. If once isn't enough, we'll do it twice. As for Emily, she's just one of my children. As long as it's not life-threatening, I can accept her getting a bit hurt."

Only then did I realize they had deliberately abandoned Emily.

Six months after Mark returned, Sarah had proposed divorce to me.

At the time, I made her back off by offering to leave with nothing.

She promised not to mention divorce again before Emily turned 18.

Her only request was to let Mark work at my company, and as a vice president position.

These past two years, whenever she came home, I turned a blind eye.

But why suddenly make things difficult for Emily now?

The next second, Sarah's hand caressed her belly, and Mark proudly placed his hand there too.

"Auntie, when can we leave the hospital? I feel suffocated here."

"Be patient a little longer, sweetie. Once Auntie has resolved everything, our family of four will leave."

Sarah's voice was full of tenderness, stunning me.

Shameless, and unworthy of being a mother.

Killing my daughter for her own selfish interests, unforgivable.

I kicked the door open forcefully.

The loud noise made the three people in the room stand up.

Seeing me walk in, panic appeared on Sarah's face. Mark hid behind her, not daring to come out.

"You... why did you come here instead of taking care of Emily? Are you even a man?"

Sarah stuttered, shouting out of guilt.

I didn't give them a pleasant expression either, coldly raising my palm.

Feeling the pain in my hand and Sarah's flushed cheek, I felt it wasn't enough.

I wanted to kill them, to make them pay for my child's death.

But that wasn't enough. I wanted to torture them, to make them lose everything.

Sarah looked at me in disbelief, her eyes full of hatred.

"Jack, are you sick? How dare you hit me."

"Why? Because you're a heartless mother who abandoned my daughter at the resort to have a child with another man, causing her tragic death. Even if you all died, it wouldn't be enough to quell the hatred in my heart."

Sarah's face turned pale. She took a step back looking at my flushed face.
