Chapter 3
I stared at Tyler, whose eyes were darting around guiltily.
"I must have been blind. I thought you were honest and ambitious. Turns out you're just a cowardly scumbag. To dump me, you conspired with your mother to kill our child. You aren't even human!"
He used to preach his resentful philosophy to me, claiming that all the resources in this world belonged to ordinary people and were stolen by the wealthy, which was why he despised the rich.
Turns out he didn't despise them—he just hated that he couldn't reach their circle.
Just one tiny corporate promotion, and he couldn't wait to reveal his disgusting true colors. How pathetic.
"Chloe, don't make it sound so ugly. Even if I deliberately got rid of the kid, so what? Besides, who's to say that kid was even mine?"
My brain roared in utter shock.
How could he even utter such words?
Noticing my fury, he paused, then doubled down shamelessly.
"I work long hours every day. We aren't glued together twenty-four-seven. Who can guarantee that kid was definitely mine?"
He spoke with such self-righteous certainty that I actually laughed out of sheer rage.
"Most men dread being cheated on. This is the first time I've seen someone so desperate to claim he's been cuckolded."
His vile words shattered the very last shred of illusion I harbored.
As of today, I finally had to admit that I had been blind.
Wasting another breath on him wasn't worth it.
Tyler clearly wanted to shake off this hot potato as quickly as possible. His expression shifted, but he didn't argue further.
"Chloe, we could have parted amicably, but you just had to be difficult and make a scene. Over the past two years, if it weren't for my hard work landing a job at such a prestigious company, could you have lived this comfortably? Since things are out in the open, let's just make a clean break! Don't come clinging to me."
"Also, I'm the one paying rent here. I'm giving you twenty-four hours to pack your crap and get the hell out. Don't linger!"
"Hilarious."
I genuinely wanted to hand him a mirror so he could see what an absolute joke he was.
When I loved him, he was everything to me. Now that I was awake, what did he have left besides a mediocre face?
If I used my monthly allowance to hire male models, I could rotate through them every day of the month without repeating!
He was an insecure, hypersensitive loser with zero capability and an overinflated ego. Did he really think I couldn't survive without him?
Without having to fund his poverty, my life was going to be paradise!
"Don't worry. I don't need twenty-four hours. Five minutes is plenty."
