Chapter 4

After saying that, my eyes hardened, and I punched her in the stomach.

"Ah!" Tiffany screamed, clutching her belly in agony, collapsing to the floor, unable to get up.

"Aurora, don't be impulsive!" Derek yelled, his voice hoarse, trying to calm me. "I know you followed me here today to record our conversation as evidence for the police, to have us brought to justice, right?"

I couldn't help but sneer. "With me dealing with you, the police can wait."

Sensing the murderous intent in my eyes, Derek's face went white, his lips trembling, unable to speak. From our brief encounter, it should have been clear I could beat them without breaking a sweat.

But that mistress, Tiffany, clutching her stomach, still defiantly provoked me. "You old, controlling hag, you deserve this. No man will ever truly love you."

"I'm already pregnant with Derek's baby! He told me he'd divorce you eventually!"

"And when you have a child, we'll switch them, so my child becomes the sole heir!"

Still not satisfied, she raised her hand to slap me. But she wasn't fast enough, and I slapped her twice more.

"Haven't had enough yet?"

"Then I'll be happy to oblige."

Blood streamed down Tiffany's face, but I had lost all patience. I raised the knife high.

This time, Tiffany finally panicked. "Derek! What are you doing? Help me! She's going to kill me!”

Derek, frozen until now, looked torn. At her scream, he snatched up a heavy stick and charged toward me.

I merely shot a glacial glance over my shoulder. He faltered mid-step, the stick clattering to the floor.

“Derek," I stated. "You had a vasectomy. So how, exactly, is she pregnant with your child?"

He trembled. "Aurora, it wasn't me... She seduced me! She's lying! That... that baby isn't mine!"

"I never betrayed you! And I know nothing about your sister, I swear!"

Then, with red-rimmed eyes, he dropped to his knees in front of me.

It was a trick. As he knelt, he swung the stick hard at the back of my head.

I collapsed.
