Chapter 3

Bella leaned in,whispering Kane's true identity to them.

My parents'faces shifted.They eyed Kane up and down,then nodded.

"If what you said is true,then this bond...should be made."

"If it turns out to be a lie,come back.Your sister can take your place."

Fearing I would steal him away,Bella demanded the mating ceremony take place that night.

And to top it off,she forced me to help prepare the celebration.

The pack talked behind her back,calling her shameless.

Nobody set foot inside the venue.They stood outside,tossing out nasty insults.

Bella’s eyes turned red with rage.She pointed at them and screamed.

"Wait till my Alpha reclaims his throne!You pathetic losers will crawl to me like dogs!"

The pack roared with laughter.

Mom took her anger out on me,pinching my arm viciously.

"They're humiliating your sister!Are you just going to stand there?"

She hurried inside to comfort Bella.

Dad flipped the table.A wooden bowl of ritual wine splashed all over my dress.

"Clean it up now,or I’ll punish you myself."

Nursing my bruised arm,I stood frozen.Numb inside.

A red wildflower was pinned to Kane’s chest.He walked in with a satisfied smile,only to catch the whole scene.
