Chapter 2
He actually brought Daphne back home.
How ironic. When we bought this house, Finn said it would be our refuge, our little nest, with no outsiders allowed.
On any other day, I would have been furious. But this time, I didn't care.
"Hello, I'm Daphne. And you must be Phoebe, right?" Daphne stepped forward, smiling at me.
"Move," I said, trying to maneuver my bags around them. "Don't stand in the way."
"Where are you going?"
Finn blocked my path, snatching my things and throwing them on the ground.
"Phoebe, that night I was just reading the script with Daphne. Don't overthink it." He grabbed my hand. "I told you, I'll explain everything."
I looked at him coldly.
"Your explanation is bringing her home."
Daphne quickly approached, gently holding my hand. "Phoebe, don't be mad. I'm not feeling well today, and Finn didn't want me to catch a cold in the SUV, so he let me come up and rest."
"If it upsets you, I'll leave right away." She looked at Finn with teary eyes, appearing pitiful.
I shook off her hand hard, and Daphne staggered backward, looking fragile.
"Phoebe, what are you doing?"
Finn glared at me, his tone harsh.
He rushed over, catching Daphne from behind, helping her sit on the sofa, and poured her a cup of hot water.
He used his own cup.
"Don't you have any sympathy? Being so rough? Daphne isn't feeling well, I asked her to come." Finn showed some impatience. Then he gently said to Daphne, "Daphne, just rest here. No one has the right to make you leave."
Watching them act like a couple made me agitated. I turned to leave.
"Phoebe, stop right there!"

As Finn comforted Daphne, I was already at the door.
"Finn, I told you, we're done."
I said coldly. Finn seemed shocked by my indifference.
"Don't be like this. There are paparazzi outside. If you go out and get photographed, what will happen to Daphne?" Finn quickly caught up and pulled me back into the living room.
Watching them, I suddenly felt exhausted.
Daphne leaned on the sofa, holding Finn's cup, smiling weakly at me.
"Phoebe, I'm forced into this too." Daphne's soft voice chimed in again. "Replying to the netizens' blessings was also Finn's idea."
Her tone even had a hint of provocation.
I took a deep breath, trying to hold back my emotions, but my eyes still reddened.
"What about me? You clearly promised me we would go public today." I said, my voice choking, looking at Finn.
"It was an accident. It was the company's decision. Can't you let it go?" Finn's impatience showed. "I came back to ask you to send some of the photos you took of me to Daphne as official announcement photos."
Hearing his words, my heart sank.
I had a habit of documenting moments through photos. Finn would occasionally post my photos on social media.
Fans called it a "girlfriend's perspective."
Seeing my cold expression, he explained, "Our agents discussed it and found the online response pretty good. They want us to try being a promotional couple. It's just promotional."
Hearing Finn say it's just promotional, Daphne looked slightly displeased.
"Phoebe, you should think about the bigger picture. Daphne and I are on the same level. You can't ask Finn to give up his career for you, can you?"
Her words were sincere, and to outsiders, it seemed like she was just promoting.
"So, this is your decision too, right?" I stared at Finn, wanting to hear him say it himself.
"Alright, it's my fault this time." He didn't answer directly. "I'm about to join Director King's film crew. I'll make sure you get a small role."
Since Finn became famous, every time a tabloid rumor emerged, he would appease me by "getting" me an insignificant role in the crew, saying it was compensation.
I was foolish before. I believed they were just acting.
He would apologize, and I would easily forgive him.
But not this time.
"Finn, you're heartless."
I broke free from Finn's grip and left the house.
