Chapter 3
I wandered aimlessly on the street, eventually turning into a bar around the corner.
I remember ordering almost every drink on the menu, sitting at the bar, drinking one glass after another.
The next morning, I woke up in a hotel suite.
I immediately checked myself. Thankfully, my clothes were intact.
Then, a man walked in from outside the room.
"Awake?"
"Declan?" I looked at the attractive man in front of me, rubbing my eyes.
"Miss Phoebe, we meet again."
Declan, who shot to fame just five years after debuting, is now a household name, an Oscar-winning actor, and Finn's biggest rival.
I met him by chance on a film set. He was the male lead, and I played a minor role. We were two people with no connection.
Apparently, he graduated from the same college as me, but he majored in directing.
Once, when some scandal about me broke online, I was stalked by an obsessive fan and had nowhere to go.
He saved me, taking me on a high-speed drive to shake off the paparazzi.
Afterward, I said I wanted to thank him.
He joked, "Why not marry me?"
I ignored him, and he slipped a note into my bag, asking me to consider being with him, promising a bright future.
I didn't respond, got out of the car, and told him I had a boyfriend who wasn't much different from him. He didn't contact me after that.
After all, he's Finn's archenemy. As Finn's girlfriend, how could I be friendly to Declan?
Listening to Declan recount the previous night's events, I blushed slightly.
He said he found me on the street and brought me to the hotel to rest.
And I jumped on the bed, ranting about how Finn was a jerk, even punching him a few times.
"You had a breakup, Miss Phoebe." Declan sat on the sofa, relaxing, looking at me with a slight smile.
"So, how about it? Consider my offer? What I said before still stands."
My face turned red as a shrimp. I grabbed my things and fled the hotel.
My phone was filled with missed calls from Finn, none of which I answered.
I hurried home, planning to move my things to a new place.
He told me he found me on the street and brought me to the hotel to rest.
But I jumped onto the bed, cursing Finn as a jerk and even threw a few punches at him.
"You've just gone through a breakup, Miss Phoebe," Finn said, lounging back on the sofa with a lazy smile as he watched me.
"So, what do you think? Are you considering my offer? What I mentioned last time still stands."
My face burned with embarrassment, and I grabbed my things and fled the hotel.
My phone was filled with missed calls from Finn, none of which I answered.
I rushed home, intending to pack my things and move to my new place.
As soon as I opened the door, I saw Finn sitting on the sofa, his expression dark as he glared at me.
"Phoebe, are you really breaking up with me over such a trivial matter?" Finn came over to block me. "I've explained it to you. What more do you want?"
Seeing me not come home all night, a trace of panic finally appeared on his face.
Trivial?
Last night, after I left, I saw Finn escorting Daphne downstairs from my building, wrapped in my favorite plush blanket.
He helped Daphne into the SUV, and Daphne even kissed him on the cheek.
Then he got into the car as well, and the door closed, cutting off my view.
Last night, I refused to give them the photos I took, but Daphne posted a picture of her and Finn on social media, captioned: "May we always be us."
Finn replied: "It's great having you."
I stopped arguing, didn't want to say another word, and with all my strength, moved out everything that was mine.
When I left, Finn was still standing there, confused.
He didn't understand why this time, I meant it.
Because my heart had died.
