My Sweet Revenge: I Fed My Toxic Family to the Wolves
Chapter 3
I woke up in a hospital bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
A few detectives walked in, wanting to ask some questions.
I didn't object. I nodded and sat up.
The lead investigator was an older man. I recognized him—Detective Miller.
He pulled up a chair and sat next to my bed, his tone surprisingly gentle.
"How did you know that was your mother?"
I replied flatly,
"The killers told me. They said I would never find her. They said they chopped her into pieces and scattered them around the abandoned site."
He asked,
"Who are the killers?"
I replied,
"My biological father and my stepmother."
He froze.
"Where are they now?"
I smiled.
"Probably up in the mountains. But you won't be able to find them anymore."
He frowned, a dark look crossing his face.
"Why?"
My smile widened.
"They went for a trip to our mountain cabin a few days ago and ran into a pack of wolves."
"By now, they’ve probably been turned into wolf droppings."
I couldn't help but chuckle as I said it.
Honestly, even that was too good for those monsters. They didn't deserve to be even animal waste.
Detective Miller’s expression hardened. He leaned in, his eyes sharp.
"You set them up, didn't you?"
I feigned panic for a brief moment, letting him think his suspicion was correct. Then, my expression shifted into a cold sneer.
"What are you talking about, Detective? The local sheriff already ruled it a tragic accident."
"You need evidence to accuse me of a crime."
No matter how hard he pressed, I just kept smiling and giving the same answer:
"I don't know."
Frustrated, Detective Miller stood up.
"Justice always catches up. Don't think you can get away with this."
He left with his team.
I found his words hilarious. If justice really existed, why did I have to call my mother's killer "Mom" for eighteen years?
Honestly, I had my dear brother to thank for all of this.
If he hadn't tried to have me assaulted, I would have been kept in the dark forever.
