Out of caution, I held back my words.

I treated Kieran with care and attention as usual when he came home.

I didn't want to arouse his suspicion.

I also didn't intend to judge if Kieran had such thoughts.

Because I was really scared.

I couldn't risk my life.

But how could I leave here without leaving a trace?

I looked at the door and discovered something chilling.

The door seemed to be double-locked.

I couldn't believe it, so I went over.

Gently turned the doorknob.

Sure enough, the door was double-locked.

Why would Kieran lock the door?

A series of questions burst in my head.

I didn't want to think about anything, nor did I dare to.

"Phoebe, what are you doing?"

Kieran's voice came from behind me.

I was startled but pretended to be calm, asking him in my usual tone.

"Why did you lock the door?"

I looked at him with genuine confusion.

"Phoebe, do you know about the recent home invasion murder case?"

Kieran looked at me, a peculiar smile on his face.

His gaze made me shiver.
