I covered my face, which was slightly swollen.

Although I was really angry inside, I didn't lash out. After all, I still had to live with Nora in the future, and she was an elder.

I tried to explain, "Nora, this bag wasn't for me. It was for Daniel's client..."

Before I could finish my sentence, she angrily slapped me again.

The force of the slap was so strong that I stumbled back.

Now, both sides of my face were burning with pain.

I had explained everything clearly, but she wouldn't listen.

"Do you think I'll believe your excuses?

"Yesterday, I asked Danny for money to shoot some craps, and he told me that the money from his payment card went to you to buy this bag!"

Her eyes were filled with resentment as she glared at me.

"It's all your fault, spending all of Daniel's money, leaving me without money for shooting some craps.

"You're such an unfilial, spendthrift wife. Back in our hometown, they'd tie you to a tree and beat you!"

That was when I realized why she was so furious.

It turned out that she hadn't been able to get the money for the craps yesterday.

She was just taking out her anger on me.

Even the calmest person would be enraged by those two slaps.

And with her constantly interrupting me and wrongfully accusing me, I couldn't take it anymore.

I yelled at her, "What do you mean I'm unfilial?

"I give you money for craps once a month, and this month I already gave you 3,000 dollars. You lost it all yourself!

"Look around the house—these health care products, the massage chair—didn't I buy all of these for you?"

I stormed into her room and grabbed a few boxes of healthcare products from her drawer.

"You were scammed out of tens of thousands of dollars for them. You were afraid that Daniel would find out, so you had me pay for all of it.

"How have I treated you badly?

"Don't even say this bag wasn't for me. Even if it was, so what?"

After hearing all that, her face grew even darker.

When she saw the boxes of medicine in my hand, it seemed like she couldn't take it anymore. She rushed over and knocked the boxes out of my hand.

The pills scattered all over the floor.
