I Came Back Before the Fatal Crash
Chapter 2
Seeing me smiling at him, Johnson's eyes flickered with a hint of nervousness.
He quickly covered it with a doting smile, ruffling my hair.
“Honey, I told you I learned to drive so I could be your chauffeur for life.
You haven't touched a car since you got your license, and it’s Annie’s birthday today. How can I possibly let you drive!”
If it weren’t for the horrific memory of how he’d killed Annie and me in the previous life just to be with another woman,
I might have been touched by him again at that moment.
After all, in everyone’s eyes, Johnson loved his wife and daughter most; racing only came in third.
Years ago, I’d jokingly said I wanted his desert rally championship trophy as a dowry.
He went out, fought a 104-degree fever, and left everyone in the dust in the desert to win that world-class, devilish competition.
After crossing the finish line, he was immediately rushed to the ambulance.
Before he even fully recovered, he struggled off the hospital bed and onto the podium, proposing to me with the trophy in front of global media.
At that moment, I truly felt like the happiest woman in the world.
After we married, whenever we went out together, he always insisted on driving, saying it was the only way he could ensure Annie and my safety.
It wasn't until my best friend, Eve, returned from overseas and I introduced them that all his past affection turned into a long-planned scheme!
But what he didn't know was that my delicate wife persona was also an act.
Before I met him, I was the undisputed Masked Racer, the queen of the underground racing world.
Because racing was dangerous, not even my closest friends knew about my glory.
For his ego, I reined in my true nature in front of him, becoming a champion's wife who seemed to only care about being a dedicated wife and mother.
But starting today, I wouldn't spare him an ounce of dignity!
I instinctively dodged his hand, my expression still firm.
“You trained too late last night. I was worried you’d be tired.”
Annie also played along perfectly, clapping her little hands in the back.
“I’ve never ridden in a car Mom drove! It’s my birthday today, so let me experience it!”
A cold sweat broke out on Johnson’s forehead. He instinctively looked back in the direction where Eve’s car had appeared in the previous life.
Clearly, it was almost time for her grand entrance, and he was afraid of messing up his plan.
He sighed, giving in, and sat in the passenger seat.
He was so busy sending messages on his phone that he didn’t even bother with his seatbelt, his mind solely focused on informing that bitch.
Unfortunately, he was still a step too slow.
I glanced at the pink luxury car suddenly appearing in the rearview mirror, a cold smirk playing on my lips.
So, you love racing? This time, I’ll give you a real show!
